After several months development work Groundwork Lancashire West & Wgan has been awarded £12,000 to establish youth provision in the Beech Hill area until August 2009

• Woodfield Primary
• St John Fisher Catholic High School
• St Anne’s C.E. Primary
• St Andrews C.E. Primary
The project’s main hub will be at St John Fisher Catholic High School and the Trust team is providing drop in sessions for young people aged 8-25 years from 4.00pm – 8.00pm every Wednesday. Project officers will also be delivering environmental sessions with each school during term times to complement the work done in the evenings.
Sessions will include:

•Climate change
•Energy efficiency
•Introduction to wildlife habitats
•Woodland ecology
Detached work is already underway, the first evening session will be held at St John Fisher High School on 25th February 2009.
The project is being delivered in partnership with Wigan Sports Development Team and Sure Start, in addition to the six schools in the 'extended services' cluster.
• Sacred Heart Catholic Primary

These sessions will complement Groundwork’s national One World Schools programme, whilst supporting the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
