Many organisations have identified that tackling environmental issues can bring many benefits to their business including reduced waste and utility costs, reduced liabilities and access to new markets and investors.

This qualification provides an awareness of key environmental concepts and an introduction to environmental management systems, helping delegates to achieve these benefits within their organisation. 

It has been designed for all members of staff whose activities could have a significant impact on the environment, or supervisors or managers who are being introduced to environmental issues for the first time.

Course outline

The qualification covers the following topics:

·         Environmental impacts and sustainability

·         Understanding environmental aspects

·         Principles of environmental law

·         Energy use and carbon management

·         Water management

·         Resource efficiency and waste minimisation

·         Pollution prevention and emergency planning

·         Environmental management systems

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On completion of the course delegates will be able to:

·         Identify, define and explain relevant environmental issues     

·         Identify, define and explain the environmental aspects and effects of
          organisations

·         Understand simple measures that can be implemented to reduce the
          environmental effects of organisations

·         Understand the business and community benefits of environmental 
          management

·         Understand the principles and importance of environmental legislation and
          the authorities responsible for its enforcement.

The course is ideal for all members of staff and is a good first step for management wanting to move on to environmental management.

This is a QCA Level 2 accredited Chartered Institute of Environmental Health course, assessed by a multiple choice examination
